Capcom usually likes to tease Darkstalkers fans with the possibility of an all-new game in the cult fighting franchise, but poor sales for this year’s Darkstalkers Resurrection have brought any such plans to a screeching halt.
“Darkstalkers Resurrection did not perform as well as we would have liked to perform,” product manager Matt Dahlgren told Siliconera at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. “There is nothing Darkstalkers on the immediate horizon for sure.”
Darkstalkers Resurrection, an HD re-release of Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge and Darkstalkers 3, was seemingly put out to test the waters for a potential Darkstalkers 4. However, former Capcom senior vice president Christian Svensson expressed disappointment with the way Resurrection sold shortly after its launch, blaming Capcom’s lack of promotion for the title and the frequency of fighting game re-releases.
