The Daily Five: Best Starting Tips for Grand Theft Auto Online

October 4, 2013 | By | No Comments

Grand Theft Auto Online launched this past week on Tuesday and it was met with a ton of hiccups and connection errors, so there is a good chance you weren’t able to play yet. However, some of us were and because of that, we’re able to pass on some great tips to help you get started as quick as possible in this ever changing online world. Los Santos, after all, is a dangerous place and if you’re not well prepared, it’s very likely you’ll end up as sidewalk paint.

We’ve given you five handy tips below that are not only going to make your life easier, but longer as well.

Rob Stores For Early Money

Robbing stores is a great way to earn between $1,000 and $3,000 per robbery. The amount seems to increase the better you are at intimidating the store clerk on your microphone at home, so feel free to yell into it as often as you’d like. There is no direct connection here and the last sentence is mainly me just lying to you, but it’s going to sound a lot funnier for everyone else if you’re yelling at a fictional character on TV. You can thank me later.

Don’t Buy Anything Unless Necessary

Ammo, guns, car mods, etc… All of these things are way more expensive in Grand Theft Auto Online and that means your bank account is going to drain quicker than normal. You should only be purchasing these things when you think you absolutely need to. Buy ammo before missions if you think it requires it or use it to fix up your vehicle. Outside of that, just save what you earn so that you can afford a garage or apartment as quickly as possible.

Find Someone to Team Up With

If you’re lone wolfing this online game, you’re going to get merked, son. Seriously. If you’re going into random rooms and you’re alone, make a friend quickly. I don’t condone being a “Bad Sport” and going around murdering people, but if you’re going to do this or you’re wanting to achieve robbing stores in peace, do it with a buddy. Buddying up will allow you to have a trigger man in case another driver is trying to take you down. It’s much easier to survive if one of you can focus on driving and the other shooting — it also puts the other guy at a disadvantage. This is a key to success, so utilize it.
