Sony may be preparing to shutdown the Gran Turismo 5 servers, but Polyphony Digital is determined to have one last party before it’s all over. The best part? They are giving out parting gifts.
On May 30th, there will be one last online event held for Gran Turismo 5. Players will be tasked with turning their fastest laps on the Top Gear test track using the 2011 Mazda Roadster TC and on the 24-hour Nürburgring track using the 2011 Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport. Players that register times on both circuits and then log into Gran Turismo 6 with the same PSN account between June 2nd and June 29th will unlock the following rides for use in GT6: 2009 Abarth Grande Punto, 2011 Renault Sport Megane R.S. Trophy, 2008 Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34), 2012 Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performance and the 2012 Subaru S206 NBR Challenge Package.
This may be the end for Gran Turismo 5 (in terms of online play), but at least Polyphony plans to send out the driving simulator with a bang.
