With Sledgehammer Games focused solely on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many wondered who would be handling the last gen release of the latest entry in the first-person shooter franchise. We now have our answer as High Moon Studios has been tapped by Activision to bring the Kevin Spacey led entry to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
“Sledgehammer Games has been focused, from day one, on delivering a true next generation Call of Duty experience for the new consoles, specifically the Xbox One, PS4, and high end PCs,” said Sledgehammer co-founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, speaking with Game Informer. “Our focus is on innovation for the franchise, unrestricted by last generation hardware constraints, and the additional third year of development has allowed the team to make bold decisions to deliver on a new era in Advance Warfare.”
When asked about the last gen versions of the title, the duo replied that “[Last] gen is also going to be great – the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms are being developed by the talented team at High Moon Studios.” Schofield and Condrey feel that High Moon will bring “an incredible X360 and PS3 Call of Duty game to fans. We’ve been working closely with those guys to ensure players get an awesome Call of Duty experience on all platforms.”
Gamers will best recognize High Moon Studios for its well received Transformers: Cybertron series, both War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. The studio also released a game based on Marvel Comics character Deadpool.
