Yesterday Insomniac Games founder and CEO Ted Price went on Reddit to answer fan questions about the studio and their upcoming game, Fuse. He fielded many questions and comment, as one is wont to do during an IAmA, but at one point someone asked about next generation development.
“What are your thoughts on next gen consoles? The new one from MS, PS4 and WII-U,” amrod69 asked.
“Wii-U is something I’d consider more current gen – but we’re not working on games for it,” Price replied. “When it comes to PS4 I’m excited that they seem to lowering barriers for independent developers. It’s cool to see almost weekly announcements from Sony explaining how they’re opening things up for indies.
“And of course I’m very excited to see what Microsoft announces soon,” he concluded.
With each passing day, it seems that large studios are leaving the Wii U behind. Earlier this week, a DICE employee said that the system supports neither their current Frostbite 2 or upcoming Frostbite 3 engines, meaning that the Star Wars games that EA will be producing won’t be making their way to Nintendo’s console.
