A countdown clock has appeared at the official Call of Duty website, promising that a “New Era” for the first-person shooter franchise will be revealed when the clock terminates this Sunday, May 4th. It is unknown what exactly will be shown, but it is almost certainly the reveal of Sledgehammer Games’s first solo entry in the storied shooter franchise.
Adding to the likelihood that the “New Era” refers to the reveal of Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty is the announcement from Game Informer that the publication will be revealing this month’s cover story, featuring said Call of Duty, this Sunday as well (if you just can’t wait, be sure to head on over to check out an early sneak peek screenshot). Game Informer’s report seems to suggest that a trailer will released for the new Call of Duty at the same time.
Sunday is sure to be a busy day for Call of Duty fans. A “New Era” beginning, a potential trailer, and loads of details on Sledgehammer’s freshman effort in the franchise. We can hardly stand the wait.
