The gaming public at large may have forgotten about Agent’s existence, but it seems that publisher Take-Two has not. Siliconera points out that the trademark for the title has been renewed by the company as of July 18, 2013. No new information is found in the filing, which simply confirms that the game’s logo remains unchanged.
For those coming in fresh to this particular ballet, Agent was announced by SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton at E3 in 2009 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Nothing was shown except for the above logo, and nothing official has been shown since. Whether the game is still exclusive to PlayStation 3 — or PlayStation at all — has since been cast into doubt by Tretton himself.
The game is still clearly somewhere on Take-Two’s agenda, but whether we’ll ever see anything meaningful surface in the near future is another thing entirely. All we can do is wait and see.
