Treasure. Pirates. Assassinations. These are all key components to Ubisoft’s PlayStation 4 launch title, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Many gamers have been enjoying ACIV on PlayStation 3 already, but a lot of us have been holding out — waiting for the next generation of consoles to launch on November 15th in order to finally sail in. Foolishly, back in April we listed ACIV as one of this year’s games to avoid and we were dead wrong. Now, we’re excited beyond belief for this game on PlayStation 4 and we’ve come up with five reasons why you should be picking this bad boy up on launch.
Let us know if you have any other reason you’re picking it up.
Ubisoft Got it Right Again
When Ubisoft released the original Assassin’s Creed, it was an ambitious endeavor that worked out quite well but was plagued with tedious and repetitive mechanics that took away from the experience. With Assassin’s Creed III, Ubisoft underwhelmed us but brought us a glimpse into what could come with naval battles and the next installment into the AC franchise. Finally, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was released. It won our Game of the Month for October and set things right again in the AC universe much like the second iteration did.
Pirates are Cooler than Ninjas
This isn’t a secret. Maddox has been teaching this for over a decade and he’s never been wrong. While these pirates aren’t from Somalia and we’re not trying to board Captain Phillips freighter, it’s worth noting that these are the cooler pirates. The type you’d expect to find sailing the Caribbean pillaging for booty (of both varieties). This is definitely a worthwhile setting and it’s great that Ubisoft introduced us to this part of history.
