Capcom has sent out a press releasing announcing the release date for Ultra Street Fighter IV, the latest edition of Capcom’s flagship fighting game. Rather, they’ve announced release dates.
Those looking to upgrade from Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be able to download their Ultra upgrade on June 3rd — to clarify, this price will require that you own the Arcade Edition. If you don’t already own it, then you can buy the full Ultra Street Fighter IV bundle on August 5th, both at retail and digitally.
According to the press release, those who opt for the full bundle in August “will receive all previously released costumes for the series, making this the definitive version of Street Fighter IV!”
Of course, the June release gives the hardest core fighting fans to brush up on the new edition before the annual Evo fighting game tournament, which Ultra Street Fighter IV is headlining this year.
It’s strange that they’re segmenting the releases this way, but it also ensures that the most dedicated Street Fighter fans will be getting in on the action early, and at a discount to boot. I’m happy to spectate, so it’ll be fun seeing how the community adapts to the changes in Ultra, which range from all-new characters to a wealth of balance changes.
Get hype, et cetera, et cetera.
